My Journey
“I am lost Grandpa, I do not know what career path to go down”. This was me when I was 18, fresh in college, having no idea what career I want to pursue. He said, “Come and watch me sing and volunteer at this assisted living community, let’s see what you think.”
That was the beginning of over 13 yeas working in the senior living industry. I worked myself up from a dishwasher in the kitchen of a senior living community, to an Activities Director and eventually a Marketing Director. Meanwhile, earning my undergrad degree at University of Washington.
I loved every minute with my residents and marketing a community I fell so deeply in love with. My creative skills flourished, my people skills sang, as my grandfather’s voice does, and my heart grew bigger. My heart and my understanding for seniors blossomed, but with that, I witnessed the daily struggles seniors face. I wanted to ease those struggles. I wanted to be that person than can simplify those complex stages in life. Those stages like Medicare. So, I decided to be an educator and advisor for seniors to better understand their healthcare choices that are rightfully theirs. I finally found my calling.
Years of working in the senior world, I have stablished my empathic and problem-solving skills. Now I am able to use these skills to create a more intuitive and simple experience for seniors seeking their Medicare plan options. If you are looking for an empathetic individual to help better understand your Medicare options, I am here for you.
For others who may be wondering what career path to take, it may be as simple as asking a grandparent. Thank you Grandpa.
